Being a travel writer means I'm often the first to learn about brands from other cities setting up shop in my hometown of Washington, DC. I was delighted to be invited by Angelica Talan of Clarendon Moms and Angelica in the City to have coffee with a few other bloggers at a new place that opened not far from my office.

Getting a warm greeting from the host; (L) Angelica Talan, (R) Brea Ellis

I'd heard of Blue Bottle Coffee when I lived in San Francisco (the business started out in Oakland) but had never gotten in to the pour over coffee craze.
The coffee brand has opened a location between the Trader Joe's and Union Market. We were treated to samples of their cold brew coffee, cascara fizz drink (made from the normally discarded center of the coffee bean) and got a chance to catch up with one another.

I'm so glad to have taken a deeper dive into the brand, which offers not only caffeinated drinks, but delicious snacks too. The shortbread cookies were amazing and I'm going back for some avocado toast!
